FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Why do cutting-off wheels become damaged during use?
A cutting-off wheel can be damaged due to an inappropriate cutting machine, because the workpiece blocks the cutting-off wheel during its operation or because of excessively rough handling of the cutting-off wheel.

Damage to a cutting-off wheel may also occur in the event that it is used for grinding. This is because cutting-off wheels are not intended for grinding and cannot withstand higher lateral loads.

When can cutting-off wheels break apart?
Product breakage may result from:
  • too rough cutting,
  • inappropriate clamping plate or clamping,
  • a damaged central hole,
  • a worn out machine spindle.
Why do grinding wheels wear non-uniformly, only on one side?
  • The grinding wheel may be poorly clamped;
  • The grinding wheel may be unbalanced.

Can F27 grinding wheels be used for surface grinding?
F27 grinding wheels are unsuitable for surface grinding; they should be positioned at an angle of 15 to 30° during use.

What is the life expectancy of resin bonded grinding wheels?
The expected lifetime of resin bonded products is 3 years from the date of manufacture. The expiration date is indicated on the metal flange.
